Ispirato alla classica forma Staunton, il set è stato progettato con l'aiuto di Vladimir Kramnik e Magnus Carlsen, i quali hanno fornito dettagli che solo i giocatori professionisti sono in grado di cogliere, come ad esempio la facilità di gioco per le partite blitz. I pezzi sono realizzati a mano in legno di bosso.
