The woman is shown relaxing whilst her appliances do all the hard work for her. After World War Two, housing was one of the most important areas that people in Britain wanted improvement in. Women in particular had felt the independence of working life during the War and so demand for labour-saving devices was high in order to improve the quality of life. Here we see a television, an electric whisk; a rotisserie grill; a washing machine, an electric oven; a refrigerator, and fluorescent lighting strips, amongst other items.
